Juan Castaneda holds a Master’s in Choral Conducting from Portland State University and a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. While at Portland State, Juan conducted the Rose Chorus a 29 voice Tenor-Bass Ensemble and the Portland State University Choir, a 65 voice SATB choir and Portland State’s most storied ensemble and was the Assistant Conductor of the Chamber Singers. Juan was also a chorister for the Portland Opera and is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and the American Choral Directors Association. In addition to his work at Cal Baptist University as conductor of the Magnolia Singers and as a voice teacher, he holds an active voice studio in Southern California that features several artists with recording deals at Warner Bros., Atlantic Records and Capitol Records. He is also on the vocal faculty at Riverside City College where he teaches both classical and musical theater voice and at Long Beach City College. Juan frequently performs in the Southern California area as a tenor soloist and was most recently featured as the tenor soloist in Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and the Mozart Requiem. Juan will have his Segerstrom Hall Debut in May with the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra under the Baton of Dr. Johannes Muller Stosch.
