Moses Sun, PhD

Applied Faculty, Guitar

Moses Sun began his music career over a decade ago as guitarist, composer, producer, and music director for various artists, corporate events and churches throughout Southern California. While pursuing those musical avenues, his diverse interests in commercial music enabled him to simultaneously produce both his own solo materials as well as collaborative projects. His 2017 Christmas album, Glory and Peace, features a number of colleagues Moses has worked with over the years; it is a solid representation of his diverse musical tastes, ranging from acoustic to orchestral rock genres.

Moses' double Masters of Music in Guitar Performance and Composition from Azusa Pacific University moves him to value and focus lush orchestral sound in many of his pieces. However, his rock edge and extensive pop knowledge allow him to expand beyond the normal sound walls and merge the two worlds together. With such expertise, he has written compositions and arrangements performed by Angeles Chorale, Azusa Pacific University, Concordia College, Glenkirk Church, and pursues ventures from independent artists to corporate production companies. He also works in score preparation and transcriptions for film and television series, such as Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Dreamwork’s VeggieTales, and Netflix’s Luke Cage to name a few.

On top of his professional career, Moses is also completing his Ph.D of Musicology from Claremont Graduate University, and is expecting to graduate in 2020. When he’s not making music, Moses uses his time recording voiceover projects for clients such as Motorola, Akamai Technologies, and various independent video game companies.
