Richard Chasin, BM

Applied Faculty

Rich Chasin has been a music educator and free-lance trumpet player in Southern California for over 30 years. In addition to being on the faculty here at Cal Baptist University, he is an adjunct faculty member at Concordia University, Irvine, and Riverside City College. Prior teaching positions include University of California, Riverside, Vanguard University, and Saddleback College. Rich is also on the faculty of the Brass Chamber Music Workshop at Humboldt State University. He performs regularly as principal trumpet of the South Coast Symphony, and the West Coast Pops Orchestra, as well as performing with many other ensembles in Southern California. He has also toured the United States and Japan with the New Sousa Band.


Rich holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan where he was a student of Armando Ghitalla (former principal trumpet of the Boston Symphony). Other teachers include Roger Voisin (also a former principal trumpet of the Boston Symphony), Louis Ranger (former principal trumpet with the New York Philharmonic) and Walter Laursen.
