Applied Faculty, Trombone
Stewart Undem is a professional trombonist and bass trombonist who actively performs throughout the United States as a soloist and band leader. He recently was a featured classical and jazz soloist at the Redlands Bowl in 2017 with the Air National Guard Band of the West.
Stewart is sometimes referred to as a “Victor Borge” of the trombone, adding “Stewism’s” to select solos. He has toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra in Australia as their lead trombonist, toured and recorded with the Ralph Carmichael Orchestra, and is starting his 38thseason with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra on bass trombone.
Mr. Undem has been teaching the Low Brass Studio at California Baptist University since 1984, and has also led the Brass and Jazz Ensembles at California State University San Bernardino. In addition, he teaches privately at his home studio, and many of his students have received university scholarships. Stewart and his pianist wife Toni perform, teach, and book entertainment throughout southern California.
